Best in South East Asia's Industrial Technologies Sector to Be Recognised
KUALA LUMPUR, Mar. 13 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Frost & Sullivan, for second consecutive year, will bring the South East
Asia Industrial Technologies fraternity together at the 2009 Frost & Sullivan
South East Asia Industrial Technologies Awards. The banquet will be held on
April 2, 2009 at the Shangri-la, Kuala Lumpur and host 150 senior
participants from the region's industrial technologies sector.
YB Datuk Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology,
and Innovation (MOSTI) will grace the banquet with his keynote address.
Honoring the best practices in highly niche and performance driven
industries - Measurement & Instrumentation, Energy & Power Systems,
Industrial Automation & Process Control, Environmental & Building
Technologies and Electronics & Security - the awards will not only benchmark
organizations but will also bring to light the highly competitive nature of
these industries even in a hard pressed time such as this. Thirty-five
exclusive award titles in five categories will be conferred onto recipients
who have performed above the industry's average in 2008.
Sanjay Singh, Vice President, Industrial Technologies at Frost & Sullivan
says, "Frost & Sullivan believes that for many industries and business
sectors the current downturn could literally transform the business landscape
over the next 2-3 years. We are increasingly witnessing companies that are
seeking ways to grow their business through greater degree of productivity
and innovation in preparation to capitalize the expected upturn."
Sanjay, adds that Frost & Sullivan has taken these considerations into
cognizance and has looked at infrastructure sectors - Energy; Water &
Wastewater and Construction - as well as efficiency improvement through use
of automation & electronics and development of emerging technologies in the
selection process.
The Industrial Technologies Awards are based on the extensive market
engineering tools evolved by Frost & Sullivan over the years. Industry
analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth
interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify
best practices in the industry.
The Awards seek to identify and credit the best practices in the industry
segments and are synonymous with Frost & Sullivan's in-depth analysis and
coverage of these industries. In keeping with the company's commitment of
excellence and innovation, the awards presented are carefully reviewed and
evaluated to reflect the current market landscape inclusive of the emerging
technology trends.
"We believe that in these difficult times it is all the more important to
recognize the companies in these sectors that are demonstrating exemplary
performance in the specific industry verticals and different areas of the
business. We believe that such recognition in the form of the Best Practice
Awards is a testimony to organizations that identify and capitalize on
opportunities in the current turbulent times." adds Sanjay to further spur
the award recipients.
In addition, the awards banquet will also recognise Malaysia's best in
manufacturing in a conjoined ceremony - the Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence
Awards. Aimed to applaud Malaysia's manufacturing capability and assess its
global competitiveness, seven distinguished manufacturing giants will be
honored alongside the Industrial Technologies award recipients.
The manufacturing excellence program, instituted in 2008, is designed to
recognize and showcase the renowned engineering and manufacturing capability
while allowing companies to grade and benchmark themselves against the best
in the manufacturing arena. In its inaugural year, the Frost & Sullivan
Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence Awards will honor companies across four
industry sectors; namely process, automotive, engineering and healthcare for
excellence in their manufacturing capabilities.
"Frost & Sullivan strongly believes that manufacturing will be an
integral part of Asian economies. We also foresee that this will be one
sector that will hold immense competition within. Via this uniquely
structured manufacturing excellence program, Frost & Sullivan reinstates it's
commitment to help manufacturing establishments in Malaysia, gauge the market
level and benchmark themselves against the local and global manufacturing
environment. The programme paves way for companies to compare their
manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness with their peers locally and
globally for creating better strategic growth opportunities." says Jay
Chandran, Principal Consultant, Frost & Sullivan.
Elaborating on the future plans for this programme, Jay points out that
the launch of the Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2009 will hold
great significance as the programme has been launched under the aegis of Asia
Manufacturing Excellence Awards. This larger wing encompasses five countries
-- China, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia -- which will spread further
into the individual Asian markets to showcase their individual manufacturing
capability.
