Leading Operators Throughout Latin America Bringing Free-To-Air TV to Consumers With Telegent-

Enabled TV Handsets

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 8 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

Claro Argentina launches the first TV phone that allows

consumers to follow soccer matches and other favorite programs without

                               additional cost

Telegent Systems, the company that makes television mobile with its

high-performance, single-chip mobile TV solutions, today announced

accelerating adoption by leading operators throughout Latin America of mobile

phones with a free-to-air TV feature enabled by Telegent.

Since December of last year, subsidiaries of America Movil and Telefonica

that are the leading operators in their country - including Telcel in Mexico,

Claro Argentina, COMCEL Colombia, and Movistar in Mexico and Peru - have

deployed multiple models of Telegent-enabled TV handsets that allow consumers

to receive live, free-to-air broadcast TV programs - without additional cost.

"We are always seeking new innovations for our customers. As the official

sponsor of our national soccer team, the phone with free-to-air TV that we

have launched enables our customers to view our team's matches in the

preparation for South Africa 2010," said Fernando del Rio, business director

of Claro.

Free-to-air TV phones provide an additional benefit to operators -

because the phones leverage the existing broadcast ecosystem and TV content,

operators are able to deliver the TV feature to customers without a

significant financial investment in infrastructure and content licensing, and

customers are able to access TV on their mobile without having to pay more

for a service.

"A significant market exists for consumers who want the familiar TV

content and broadcast delivery available on free-to-air TV handsets," said

Anna Maxbauer, market analyst with IMS Research. "IMS estimates market demand

for analog TV handsets at more than 150 million units in 2013."
