    The deep dimming characteristics of incandescent bulbs are well understood

and accepted by consumers with millions of off-the-shelf triac dimmers installed

in homes and offices today. An important aspect of enabling the growth of Solid

State Lighting (SSL) fixtures as a replacement for incandescent bulbs is the need

for similar dimming properties while fitting into existing infrastructure.
