Australias phone book now on iPhone
White Pages
®
is putting Australias phone book in the hands of hundreds of thousands of iPhone and iPod Touch users with the launch of a free
White Pages
®
application in Apples App Store on iTunes.
The new White Pages
®
iPhone app makes it easy to find people, businesses and government contacts and has the option to link to recent searches,
save listings to contacts or favourites and even to add notes against listings saved.
White Pages
®
, Group Manager, Jane Blackley, said our experience with the White Pages
®
Mobile site, launched earlier this year proved that
searching Australias phone book on a mobile device would be popular.
In the four months since launch, White Pages Mobile® has averaged over 435,000 searches per month, with 44 per cent growth. In this same
period, calls made directly from White Pages Mobile® to friends, family and businesses have grown by 80 per cent to over 260,000 calls.
Access to White Pages® through our mobile site also saw business searches increase by 64 per cent in the quarter.
The iPhone App Store is hugely popular and were hoping that with the great user experience on iPhone we will see even more searches and
more calls made using White Pages® for iPhone, she said.
The White Pages
®
currently holds the number two position in Apples Lifestyle category and the number four position in the top 25 free
applications, having already been downloaded more than 9,000 times.
A
recent Sensis survey found, approximately half of Australians in their 20s, one third of Australians in their 30s and one quarter of those in their
40s are accessing the internet from their phone.
Sensis launched a Yellow Pages
®
iPhone application in August this year with great success. The application has been downloaded almost 190,000
times and used to conduct more than 700,000 searches for local businesses.
The White Pages
®
iPhone and iPod Touch application is provided by Sensis for free and can be downloaded from iTunes at
. iPhone and iPod Touch users should check with their mobile phone
provider to confirm if download charges apply.
