Synaptics ClearPad(TM) Touchscreen Brings Advanced Gestures to New NTT docomo

PRIME Series(TM) N-01A Mobile Phone

SANTA CLARA, Calif., /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

Synaptics Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNA) a leading developer of human interface solutions for

mobile computing, communications, and entertainment devices, today announced that its

ClearPad(TM) solution brings high-performance touch capabilities to the NTT DOCOMO's

docomo PRIME series(TM) N-01A mobile phones. The docomo PRIME series --

manufactured by industry leader NEC -- is shipping now in Japan.

This stylish, popular mobile phone features a large touchscreen that is well suited for

feature-rich applications, such as video or broadcast television. The N-01A mobile phone's

intuitive and contextual controls are enabled by Synaptics ClearPad solution that also

supports Synaptics Enhanced Gesture Recognition (EGR(TM)) technology.  Synaptics EGR

library enables shortcuts for navigation and commands.  No additional recognition software is

required on the host processor to enable advanced gestures.

For users, Synaptics' proven EGR technology means high-performance gestures that are

intuitive and exciting. EGR enables single-finger gestures (i.e., Tap, Double-Tap, Press, and

Flick) as well as multi-finger gestures, such as Pinch. The compelling capabilities of the

ClearPad touchscreen enrich the user experience, bringing more ease-of-use to the NTT

docomo Prime series N-01A.

"We're very pleased to work with an industry leader like NEC to incorporate our innovative

ClearPad interface into the high-profile docomo Prime series mobile phones," said Yoshi

Maeda, president of Synaptics Japan. "Our ClearPad and EGR technology help to enable

feature-rich applications that can be enjoyed by the growing user base in Japan's mobile

phone market."

Synaptics ClearPad is available to manufacturers that want proven capacitive

touchscreens for their mobile devices -- for navigation, scrolling, virtual controls, and other

functions. To find out more about ClearPad, visit
