MEDIA RELEASE PR36930
Telekom Malaysia Joins Global Crossing Partner Program to Extend Its Reach in Europe and
the Americas
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. and KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider, today
announced that Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Malaysia's leading integrated information
and communications group, has joined Global Crossing's Global Partner Program (GPP) to
expand availability of its Converged IP and Private Line services to Europe and the
Americas.
At the signing ceremony to signify the collaboration between the two companies
during Capacity Asia 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Global Crossing was represented by Ricky
Chau, vice president, Carrier Services and General Manager, Asia, while Mohamad Rozaimy
Abd Rahman, executive vice president, TM Global represented TM.
Commenting on the collaboration, Rozaimy said, "Participation in the Global Partner
Program has allowed us to extend our capabilities beyond the Asia Pacific region to meet
the needs of our enterprise clients who have customers all around the globe. These new
services will provide our clients with global reach, scalable connectivity, higher
security, and a wide range of IP communications services, all with enhanced control and
operating efficiency."
Global Crossing's Global Partner Program gives regional service providers the
benefits of global reach, service expansion, reduced time-to-market and the ability to
build a network or add service capabilities without significant investment. It enables
providers to offer voice, video and data services to customers who may be out-of-region
and gives providers a way to increase revenue by providing value-added services to
customers in multiple markets.
"We're very pleased to have TM join our Global Partner Program," said Omar Altaji,
Global Crossing's managing director, Worldwide Carrier Services. "As TM's business
clients take advantage of globalization and IP convergence market trends, they can
benefit from TM's support model, strong regional presence and the global seamless
network enabled by Global Crossing's IP infrastructure."
TM joins a select list of top-tier service providers in the Global Partner Program,
offering Global Crossing Fast-Track Services(TM) portfolio to their enterprise end
users. Global Crossing Fast-Track Services combine the business processes, products,
services and system tools necessary for service providers to quickly offer their
enterprise customers end-to-end global data solutions, backed by consistent SLAs. In
addition to Converged IP Services and Private Line, Fast-Track Services include
Ethernet, Collaboration and Managed Services. The portfolio can help service providers
avoid the costly expenditures and long lead times generally associated with service
expansion. It also can help drive incremental revenue for a carrier by helping it
provide additional opportunities to enterprise customers that need out-of-region IP-
based solutions.
Global Crossing Converged IP Services enable high-quality any-to-any connectivity
supporting VoIP, Video and IP VPN applications. The service delivers appropriate levels
of latency, jitter and packet loss to ensure the successful concurrent handling of
multiple types of traffic, especially voice and video. It is backed by comprehensive
service-level agreements (SLAs) covering the overall performance of the service, and
online access to real-time and historical service-performance reports.
Meanwhile, Global Crossing Private Line services provide highly reliable, secure,
point-to-point, digital connectivity, for a wide range of applications used by
enterprise customers, including hosting, resource planning, business continuity, content
distribution and disaster recovery. Global Crossing Private Line services also support
high-bandwidth operations such as large data transfers, medical imaging, record
archiving, database sharing and replication, and remote office access to application
servers. The services' capacities range from T1/E1 up to OC-48/STM-16 (from 1.544
Megabits per second, or Mbps, to 2,488.32 Mbps).
As part of Global Crossing Fast-Track Services, the company also provides launch
support to carriers, including on-boarding and training, sales collateral and integrated
partner team support, along with the tools necessary to effectively deliver a positive
customer experience.
