Expert comment on Australia’s internet filter –

The Federal Government will introduce compulsory internet filtering to block

overseas sites which contain criminal content, including child sex abuse and sexual

violence.

What will this mean for internet users?

How will the filter work and will it be effective?

What were the results of the controversial trial conducted this year?

Who will pay for the internet filter?

And what other options are open to governments wanting to prevent the spread of

illegal web content?

RMIT University’s Dr Mark Gregory is an expert in internet security.

Dr Gregory is the Program Director of Network Engineering at RMIT’s School of

Electrical and Computer Engineering.

He is available for comment on the Federal Government’s plans for an internet

filter.
