Expert comment on cyber crime
A recently formed agency, the Cyber Security Operations Centre, has found
Australias computer networks are facing increasingly sophisticated attacks from
cyber criminals.
The ABCs AM program has reported that officials from the spy organisation ASIO,
federal police and computer security experts are working with the top-secret
Defence Signals Directorate to fight against cyber crime.
In related news, an international survey has found that most data centres, which
hold information ranging from defence secrets to personal health records, are not
prepared to cope with a cyber-terrorist attack.
What does cyber crime actually mean?
What can companies do to protect themselves?
How can individuals protect themselves against cyber crime?
Who should you contact if youve been the victim of cyber crime?
RMIT Universitys Dr Mark Gregory is an expert on internet security.
Dr Gregory is the Program Leader of Network Engineering at RMITs School of
Electrical and Computer Engineering.
He is available for comment on cyber crime.
