Expert comment on cyber crime –


A recently formed agency, the Cyber Security Operations Centre, has found

Australia’s computer networks are facing increasingly sophisticated attacks from

cyber criminals.


The ABC’s AM program has reported that officials from the spy organisation ASIO,

federal police and computer security experts are working with the top-secret

Defence Signals Directorate to fight against cyber crime.

In related news, an international survey has found that most data centres, which

hold information ranging from defence secrets to personal health records, are not

prepared to cope with a cyber-terrorist attack.
