Expert comment on the r4dBlack hackers –


Websites around the world, and in Australia, have come under attack by hackers

using the name, “r4dBlack”.


A search on Google for “hacked by r4dBlack” reveals a list of sites affected by the

attack including Queensland Sugar and major US job search websites such as the

Washington Post and CNNMoney.com.


What has happened to sites that have been attacked?


What are the hackers trying to achieve?


How has this attack affected Australian companies?


How can businesses and individuals protect themselves from hack attacks?


RMIT University’s Dr Mark Gregory is an expert in internet security.


Dr Gregory is a Senior Lecturer in Network Engineering at RMIT’s School of

Electrical and Computer Engineering.
