Microsoft to Address 'Innovation in a Globally Connected World' at Second Annual Asia High Tech
Summit
TOKYO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Business and technology innovators will discuss how they plan
to thrive in the globally connected high-tech and electronics industry.
Microsoft Corp.'s 2009 Asia High Tech Summit will explore the impact of the major global challenges that
high-tech and electronics manufacturers face today, along with the opportunities that these challenges create,
by focusing on how to advance in a connected world and highlighting three major business imperatives:
innovation, performance and growth.
Microsoft and its industry partners deliver differentiated business solutions that enable high-tech and
electronics manufacturers to optimize their global value chains, drive innovation, build high-value connections
with partners and suppliers, and implement innovative solutions to help grow customer relationships and
market share.
The Microsoft Asia High Tech Summit will address a wide array of global challenges facing both line-of-
business and IT executives. Summit attendees also will hear from other high- tech and electronics industry
leaders on how they are driving innovation, operational efficiencies and growth in today's turbulent economy.
In addition, attendees will discover how Microsoft and partner solutions can help them optimize their global
value chains and build high-value, high-velocity connections with partners and suppliers.
New Solutions for High-Tech and Electronics
Microsoft offers familiar tools that allow everyone from engineers and plant-floor operators to supply chain
personnel and customer sales and marketing representatives to succeed in an environment of ever shorter
product life cycles and rapidly changing consumer demands.
Microsoft Asia High Tech Summit presentations will focus on a wide range of critical success factors,
including innovation and product life-cycle management (PLM), digital marketing, sales effectiveness, supply
chain visibility and collaboration, manufacturing operations, and enterprise performance management (EPM).
Microsoft also will highlight how its partner ecosystem delivers end-to-end high-tech and electronics industry
solutions.
Microsoft Customer and Partner Participation
The event will highlight partner solutions from Accenture plc, Dassault Systemes, Parametric Technology
Corp. (PTC), Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software Inc., Infosys Technologies Ltd. and Camstar
Systems Inc., as well as industry presentations from several leading high-tech and electronics industry
customers such as Canon Inc., LG Electronics, Quanta Computer Inc., Samsung, TDK-Lambda UK, Ltd. and
Toshiba Corp.
Accenture will highlight management cockpit, as well as sales and service solutions. Dassault Systemes,
PTC and Siemens PLM Software will showcase successes and their next- generation PLM solutions on the
Microsoft platform in the high-tech and electronics industry. Infosys will demonstrate enterprise resource
planning (ERP), enterprise customer relationship management (CRM) and supply chain management (SCM)
solutions. Camstar will present and demonstrate manufacturing execution and enterprise quality management
solutions built on Microsoft platform. Microsoft, whose products include the Xbox video game system and
Zune, is itself a high-tech manufacturer and service provider, meeting the same global challenges faced
by high-tech companies worldwide. Microsoft creates products and services using collaborative design and
relies on complex supply chains and multichannel customer chains to deliver its products and services to
consumers. These business processes are supported by PLM, SCM, ERP, manufacturing execution systems
(MES), CRM and EPM applications that leverage Microsoft's infrastructure, application platform and business
productivity tools. In addition, Microsoft extracts maximum value from its investments in these business
applications by extending the reach of the data and processes to all stakeholders through familiar and natural
user interfaces seamlessly delivered on any device - desktop, mobile or browser - by improving productivity
through role-based collaboration portals and by linking internal and external partners through cloud-based
applications and hosted online services.
"In the current economic turmoil, some firms will have great difficulty surviving and weathering the storm,
but others will use this opportunity to emerge as leaders and position themselves for stronger future growth,"
said Sanjay Ravi, worldwide managing director, High Tech and Electronics Industry, Microsoft. "Building
market share today is critical for long-term success in the high-tech and electronics industry. To prepare for an
upturn in the economy, high- tech companies must achieve greater innovation, customer intimacy, and sales
and marketing effectiveness. Familiar and easy-to-use, role-based productivity solutions and new software-
plus-services capabilities that help reduce the time-to-decision by embracing and extending the reach of
line-of-business applications to more people within an organization, as well as across partners and customers
in the high-tech and electronics value chain, will be a key enabler. "
Executives attending the Asia High Tech Summit will benefit from Microsoft's deep industry knowledge to
enhance their ability to align IT with their business processes to optimize operations and drive bottom-line
results. They will learn how to leverage Microsoft's role-based productivity solutions to bridge the gap between
enterprise business solutions and the personal productivity solutions on every desktop to connect people,
information and processes seamlessly across the spectrum of devices regardless of time and location.
The Asia High Tech Summit will demonstrate the high-tech and electronics industry benefits of a number of
new products. Attendees will learn how Windows 7 provides highly secure, Internet-based anywhere access to
enterprise data. The Asia High Tech Summit also will show how Microsoft Office 2010, SharePoint Server
2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM unified communications, collaboration and social networking capabilities
can help cut travel and other costs and support greater collaboration.
In early deployment at Intel Corporation, for example, Windows 7 together with Intel technologies is
delivering IT cost efficiencies and increased employee productivity via improved manageability, scalability and
performance. In addition, Dell is planning to upgrade its 100,000 desktops and portable computers to the
Windows 7 operating system to reduce desktop management costs and enhance data security. By upgrading
to Windows 7, Dell expects to reduce its IT management work, enhance network protection and improve
computer performance. Dell, a worldwide IT solutions provider and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, also is
committed to providing customers with innovative Microsoft Exchange Server solutions for efficient, cost-
effective communications. With the upcoming launch of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Dell has positioned
itself to help customers take advantage of new solutions and features that can deliver greater cost efficiencies,
increase productivity and improve communications.
