Founder, Geoff Drucker says, HatchMatchDispatch is a site for births, deaths, engagements,
marriages and more. It is designed to allow people to share their life moments from new things
happening (Hatch), to them coming together with others (Match) or chapters ending (Dispatch).
Other classified ad categories like cars, jobs and real estate have been huge successes online, but
the difference with HatchMatchDispatch is that our announcements are free.
Placing an ad in a newspaper is a costly exercise and prohibitive for many; HatchMatchDispatch will
not only be free but will also give friends, family and acquaintances the opportunity to join in these
celebrations or pay tribute to others. Its social networking around special moments.
HatchMatchDispatch allows comments to be posted to complement announcements and soon the
site will accommodate video and audio to further the sharing experience, he says.
HatchMatchDispatch was conceived when Geoff Drucker was searching for details on a funeral when
he happened to spy details on another funeral, that of a friends young daughter. Drucker says, Had I
not purchased the newspaper on that particular day and happened to catch a funeral notice I was not
looking for, I would have missed a funeral that I needed to attend.
It made me think that with todays communications vehicles, there has to be a better way of making
more people aware of such events and a way that makes it easier for people to share their thoughts
with such important moments, he says.
Being internet-based, HatchMatchDispatch makes announcements global rather than being limited to
one state and one day. Visitors will be able to search for listings and later able to set up a watchlist
that will generate an alert when an event happens. So parents-to-be can announce a baby is coming,
post photos of a scan or the mothers progress and then announce the birth with more photos.
Through the site, family and friends can then send a gift or flowers to the new mother in hospital
along with congratulatory wishes. Thereafter the babys progress can be shared and friends can be
reminded of each birthday.
In the event of a death, friends living interstate or overseas can learn of funeral details and again
send flowers or make a donation to a chosen charity. They can also share their special moments,
thoughts and memories.
Drucker says, HatchMatchDispatch will also be a great way for companies to celebrate retirements
and resignations of long-serving employees.
