Pinoy Friendster Day - the Largest Offline Gathering of Friendster Users Globally
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Thousands Attended All-Day Event to Hear Local Bands, Meet New Friends,
and More
Friendster, Inc., a top 25 global web site based on traffic*, today announced the overwhelming success of
its first annual 'Pinoy Friendster Day' organized as a free event to thank Friendster fans for their support over
the past seven years. Friendster also thanks those who sponsored the event in addition to all the attendees.
More than 7,000 Friendster members showed up for the festivities at the SM Mall of Asia on August 15th,
making 'Pinoy Friendster Day' the largest offline global gathering of Friendster users in the company's history.
The event featured entertainment and activities for attendees including live performances by popular local
bands, speed dating, style makeovers, and a fireworks display.
'Pinoy Friendster Day' was hosted by Johnny Chase, Lorraine Quiche and Zip Cody of Max FM 103.5 in the
Philippines, and was held in partnership with KFC, Label 5, Clean & Clear, Doggies Choice, Dell, Smart Buddy
and Smart Bro. Media partners included Manila Bulletin, Inquirer Libre, ETC, Jack TV, Chat TV, 103.5 Max
FM, 99.5 RT, Jam 88.3, and Wave 89.1. All sponsors occupied booths at the event with giveaways for
attendees. Some of the booths featured style makeovers, and attendees chose from the following looks: jock,
kikay, emo, fashonista and hip-hop.
Popular artists who performed included hip-hop artist Young JV and local Filipino talents Imago, Pedicab,
Paraluman, 6 Cycle Mind, Callalily, and Rico Blanco. Artist performances were accented by the fireworks
display.
Additionally, the event featured a massive 'Friendster Shoutout' graffiti board, resembling the popular
Shoutout feature on Friendster.com, for attendees to post messages. Attendees also produced music videos
and were given personal DVD copies of their performances.
"Friendster would like to thank those who attended 'Pinoy Friendster Day' and all who participated online.
Additionally, we'd like to offer a special thanks to the sponsors that supported this successful event," said Ben
Dunn, vice president Philippines and global head of brand experience. "Bringing our users together offline is a
natural extension of what Friendster offers users online and is a great example of how we're building a fun,
interactive community. We're excited to be planning future events here in the Philippines and similar events
throughout Southeast Asia," he said.
Friendster users attended the event by presenting their free admission passes which they generated online
via their user profile and printed via the "Pinoy Friendster Day Official Profile"
viewed on the profile too.
