World first $30m super greenhouse to be opened

in Adelaide today


One of the world’s most sophisticated plant research facilities, set to make huge advances in international agricultural

sustainability and deliver significant benefits to Australia’s agriculture and horticulture industries, will be opened in

Adelaide today:

MEDIA TOUR OF THE FACILITY PRIOR TO THE OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS:


Location: The Plant Accelerator building is located at the top of Hartley Grove at the University of Adelaide’s Waite

Campus, Urrbrae (map is attached for reference).


10.15am – Media to assemble in The Plant Accelerator foyer


10.20am – Media and VIPs to be taken on guided tour of the facility by the Director of the Australian Plant

Phenomics Facility, Professor Mark Tester, University of Adelaide


Opportunities for vision / photographs:


1.

In a Smarthouse on first floor – vantage point 1. There are four Smarthouses in the building. Each

Smarthouse holds 600 plants on a conveyor system. The first vantage point will show plants on the conveyor

system being sent through the imaging centre.

2.

In a Smarthouse on first floor – vantage point 2. The second vantage point will show plants on the conveyor

system moving through automated watering and spraying machines.
