Detecon Analyzes Network Expansion of the Future
BONN and ESCHBORN, Germany, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
- Operators Must Exploit Differentiation Potential of the
Telecommunications Networks
There is not a single operator in the world who will be able to afford
the future expansion of a network which will come even close to keeping up
with the global growth in demand for capacities and bandwidths. So carriers
and mobile network companies must examine their technology strategies and
roll-out scenarios for differentiation potential. Quality of service (QoS),
the service quality of data transmission classes, will play a major role
here. This is the conclusion of an analysis conducted by the ICT management
consultancy Detecon International.
While services based on and compensated according to QoS have been
realized in many different ways for business customers (e.g., via IP virtual
private networks (IP VPN)), the coupled structure of networks belonging to
various operators worldwide has prevented this on the Internet. "But if they
are to manage the enormous growth in traffic from mobile networks and fixed
networks in the future, network operators are going to have to work for the
establishment and standardization of QoS mechanisms going beyond corporate
boundaries," demands Dr. Hans-Peter Petry, Head of the business unit
"Communication Technology" and Member of the Executive Board at Detecon
International. "Otherwise, new turnover potential from the marketing of
services which feature controlled quality of service from the sender to the
recipient will not be possible in the future."
