Telstra Awarded Tabcorp Managed Infrastructure and Network Services Contract

Tabcorp Holdings Limited, Australia's leading gambling and entertainment company, today announced it had awarded a multi-million dollar contract to Telstra to help transform and manage its extensive network.

The five year commitment strengthens Telstra's established relationship with Tabcorp and involves a significant deployment of Telstra's world leading NextIP and NextG networks, as well as Telstra's managed network services capability. Telstra will provide Tabcorp's Voice, Mobile, Network, Video Conferencing and PABX requirements.

As part of this contract, Telstra is deploying an innovative solution which provides Tabcorp with increased network reliability and improved customer service outcomes through a fully managed voice and data network - including back up elements that utilise Telstra's Next G wireless network.

This means that if, for example, a backhoe sliced through a telecommunications cable running into one of Tabcorp's 4,000 sites, affected data traffic would automatically switch over to the Next G wireless network.

As a result, there would be little or no disruption in Tabcorp's operations a positive result for Tabcorp and its customers.

The wide-ranging, enabling infrastructure project being undertaken by Telstra will also help provide predictable bottom line costs for Tabcorp's operations and increased productivity and effectiveness of Tabcorp's retail and mobile workforce resulting from the faster speeds and the broader geographic coverage of Telstra's Next G Network.

The decision to increase Telstra's engagement comes as Tabcorp works with key outsource partners to transform and manage its IT infrastructure and operations.

Telstra Enterprise and Government, Group Managing Director, Mr David Thodey, said "Tabcorp's decision to increase the managed services provided by Telstra demonstrates its commitment to use leading-edge technology to enhance the capabilities of its retail and mobile workforce, as well as improve customer service.

"The wireless backup capability provided through Telstra's Next G Network again demonstrates Telstra's position as an industry leader and highlights its unique ability to use its world leading networks to develop innovative solutions that deliver substantial benefits to its enterprise and government customers."
